FRIENDS

It is a privilege to be working with the Friends of The Bristol Eye Hospital. I was introduced to the charity through a family friend and proudly volunteer with their social media marketing needs.

The Friends of The Bristol Eye Hospital support the hospital to improve care and treatment for patients by helping to pay for medical equipment, patient comforts and staff resources that would not otherwise be provided.

I work closely with the charity to create content and share their news, updates and most importantly donations via their social channels.

SPEAR

I began working with Spear earlier in 2023, which is an incredibly special opportunity for me. I was introduced to the charity through my own cardiologist who I have been cared by since the age of 15! In this time, and throughout my health struggles, I would always share my eagerness to start my own business during my appointments and of course, share my progress with this journey. In 2023, in what was my last appointment (with the healthy heart all clear!), my cardiologist asked if I would be happy to share this journey with the young people who go through the incredible Spear programme.

Having faced my own health battles, as well as all that comes with building a business at a young age, it is a privilege to share this experience with young people from all walks of life who are navigating their way onto their own career path.

The mission of Spear is to support young people into work, with a vision of transforming up to 90 young people’s lives in Bristol each year, giving them the support, skills, and confidence, they need to get into work or re-enter education, building a future filled with hope.

During the 6-week courses that the young people go through, it has been my pleasure to sit on the career panel and answer any questions they have asked, sharing my own story and of course how I have navigated my way through building my business. I hope to be able to inspire so many more young people with my story and help them with the challenges they are experiencing to flourish as every young person deserves.

Social media tips I wish I knew earlier

You don’t start by knowing how to create good content. You start by consistently posting bad content that improves each time.

The best content doesn’t teach. It gives practical insights that someone can apply immediately.

Your best buyers come from your followers. Treat them well.

You learn better by consuming social media, rather than watching endless YouTube video tutorials.
